MEET THE FARMERS
They are more than cultivators—they are caretakers of complexity, artisans of expression, and stewards of genetic legacy.
Their work begins not in the soil, but in the search: selecting seeds from rare cultivars rich in compounds that interact meaningfully with the human body—cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that shape perception, mood, and physiology. Every plant they tend is a story unfolding—rooted in tradition, guided by science, and grown with a purpose as wild and true as nature herself.
Emerald Spirit Botanicals
Emerald Spirit Botanicals is a Certified Organic and Sun+Earth Certified family farm nestled in the Coastal Range of Mendocino County. Surrounded by oak, madrone, fir, and redwood, the land thrives under the influence of coastal breezes and a vibrant ecosystem teeming with plant and animal life.
On just one acre, the farm produces an abundance of food, flowers, medicinal herbs—and some of California’s most celebrated cannabis. With 7 Gold Medals from the California State Fair, the Golden Bear Best of California, 10 Emerald Cup Awards including the Regenerative Farm Award, and recognition from numerous local competitions, Emerald Spirit has carved a niche in excellence.
They specialize in terpene-rich cultivars with diverse profiles of minor cannabinoids, offering deeply flavorful and functional experiences for everyone—from the canna-curious to seasoned legacy heads in search of something truly distinct.
First Cut Farms
Jerry Munn & Patty Noble are the team behind First Cut Farms in Covelo, CA, where they cultivate 10,000 square feet of regenerative sun-grown and hoop house cannabis under California licensure.
Jerry’s cannabis journey began in 1992 after meeting legendary activist Dennis Peron, an AIDS patient whose advocacy helped pass Prop 215, legalizing medical cannabis in California. Jerry became a founding member of the first buyers club in the Castro and a central figure in the early medical movement. After relocating to Covelo, he launched Absolute Organics and Mendo Seeds, earning recognition for his proprietary genetics with awards at the California State Fair, Ego Clash, Ridge Sesh, and the Mendo Cup.
Patty, an Oakland native, began working in cannabis in 1998 as a trimmer and broker. She co-founded a Prop 215 collective in Berkeley, then moved north in 2012 to raise her daughter and deepen her cultivation practice. She ran Noble Gardens, a licensed 5,000 sq ft farm, until 2023.
Sun Roots Farm
Forrest and Patricia are the heart and hands behind Sun Roots Farm, blending generations of herbal knowledge with deep land stewardship and regenerative farming practices.
Forrest grew up on an organic apple orchard in the same mountain range he now cultivates. A lifelong gardener and Taekwondo sabeom (master instructor), he brings a disciplined yet intuitive approach to the land. Guided by cannabis throughout his life, he focuses on cultivating high-quality genetics and vibrant, healthy plants. When he’s not tending the garden, he’s woodworking, raising animals, building with local materials, or consulting with other farmers to share his expertise.
Patricia is a multigenerational herbalist and farmer whose practice is rooted in a lineage that spans Puerto Rico, Peru, Africa, and Asia. Introduced to plant medicine by her grandmother, she carries the traditions of herbalism and curanderismo (Indigenous folk healing) into her work. She studied at the California School of Herbal Studies and trained in clinical herbalism with Olatokunboh Obasi of the Omaroti Well of Indigenous Wisdom School in Puerto Rico. Her work focuses on restoring ecosystems through native, perennial, edible, and medicinal plantings—and every product she creates reflects her deep respect for ancestry and the land.
Together, Forrest and Patricia cultivate not only cannabis, but a way of life—rooted in healing, resilience, and the belief that with dedication and determination, anything can grow.
Sweet Sisters Family Farm
Sweet Sisters Family Farm is rooted in love—first between founders David and Sara, and then for the cannabis plant. Since the 1980s, they’ve cultivated life and medicine on their Mendocino County homestead, nestled at the confluence of two creeks. Their farm has grown a family, nurtured countless plants, and embodied their belief in cannabis as a healing gift from the Earth.
As early pioneers of Mendocino’s cannabis movement, David and Sara now focus on sharing their sun-grown flower with those who need it most. Their operation is ethical, sustainable, and grounded in the values of the community they’ve helped shape. In 2025, Sweet Sisters Farm won Best Flower at the Mendo Cup for their standout cultivar, Biscotti—and we’re lucky enough to have procured this exceptional flower for you to experience.
Sara is also a respected advocate, serving on the boards of the Origins Council and Mendocino Cannabis Alliance, working to ensure a future for legacy and small-scale cultivators alike.
