Joining Sean Donahoe of the California Cannabis Industry Association on a talk about SLO City Board of Supervisors recent banning of physical medical and recreation dispensaries, and the negative impact on local cannabis businesses.
Shawn is presently a founding member of the local cannabis industry association, the Central Coast Cannabis Council. Originally aired, November 2, 2017.
The SLO City Board of Supervisors recently had a straw poll in favor of banning physical medical and recreation dispensaries, as well as the manufacturing of edibles. Their justification for this decision is that we need to approach cannabis legalization slowly as to not do it wrong. However, nearly all local cannabis businesses and cultivators disagree with this decision.
California is already producing a majority of the nation’s cannabis, and delaying its availability on the Central Coast will only divert the economic success elsewhere. San Luis Obispo County offers growing conditions like no other place in the world with it’s wide variety of micro-climates, and limiting cultivation in the area would be major waste of potential. The more our city government delays easy access to any locally grown cannabis, the more residents will travel outside the county to shop at dispensaries.
